Get ready for an exciting baseball season! The 2026 Spring Training and Regular Season are almost here, and we've got some important updates for media professionals. Media credentials are now available online, so let's dive into the details!
Media Credentials for 2026
All media outlets interested in covering the New York Yankees' Spring Training and Regular Season games must apply for credentials online. This process is straightforward and ensures a smooth experience for everyone involved.
Print Media Note: If you receive credentials through the BBWAA, there's no need to apply for Yankees-issued credentials. However, Sports Assignment Editors should send an email to credentials@yankees.com to indicate which staff members will be using BBWAA cards during Spring Training and the Regular Season.
The online application process is simple and efficient. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Visit https://credentials.mlb.com and complete the application form.
- Ensure that a Sports Assignment Editor submits the request.
- Upload a current headshot for each individual for whom a credential is being requested.
- For those new to the process, create an affiliate profile by emailing the New York Yankees Media Relations Office at credentials@yankees.com.
And this is the part most people miss... Each individual's application requires specific details, including their name, email address, phone number, job description, and a color headshot in JPEG format measuring 1" x 1" with at least 300 dpi resolution.
Spring Training Credentials
Spring Training credentials are also available online, and here's a quick breakdown:
- Applications must be completed by a Sports Assignment Editor.
- Spring-long George M. Steinbrenner Field credentials are issued to those covering the team for at least one full week in Tampa.
- Applications for spring-long credentials at GMS Field must be submitted by February 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
- Daily credentials for GMS Field during Spring Training require applications to be submitted by 3:00 p.m. the day before the requested date.
- Approved credentials can be collected at the Steinbrenner Field Press Gate, located on the first-base side of the stadium.
But here's where it gets controversial... For road games, credential requests should be submitted via the home team's section on the MLB Credentials website. As a courtesy, please notify credentials@yankees.com of your coverage needs.
Full Regular Season Credentials
Full Regular Season credentials are reserved for those covering at least 40 regular-season home games. Applications must be submitted by March 13, 2026.
Approved credentials can be picked up on any home game day at the Press Gate on E. 161st Street between Gate 4 and the ticket windows. Please note that you can only collect your own credential, and photo ID is required.
Daily Regular Season Credentials
Daily Regular Season credentials are also available online, and applications must be completed by a Sports Assignment Editor. Applications close at 3:00 p.m. the day before the requested home game.
Daily credentials can be collected on game days, starting five hours before night games and four and a half hours before day games, at the Yankee Stadium Press Gate on E. 161st Street.
A quick reminder: Yankees or MLB-issued Spring Training credentials are not valid for any regular-season game at Yankee Stadium. However, all Yankees, BBWAA, and MLB-issued 2026 Full Regular Season media credentials will be honored at regular-season games played at Yankee Stadium.
