Emmerdale's Nate Returns: A Star's Emotional Farewell
Emmerdale fans were treated to a surprising return this week as Nate Robinson made a brief cameo, leaving fans and former star Jurell Carter with mixed emotions. Carter, who portrayed Nate, shared his thoughts on the character's unexpected comeback and the impact of his on-screen death.
Nate's demise occurred in 2024 when John Sugden, played by Oliver Farnworth, injected him with a lethal dose of drugs after a brutal beating by Cain. The character's frozen body was discovered at the bottom of a lake, and the truth about his fate was revealed last year. John's own tragic end followed during the Corriedale crossover, with his sister Victoria standing over his body.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Carter reflected on Nate's return, writing, 'I heard Nate made an appearance this week. Only right I put a throwback up with his killer [heartbreak emojis]...'. He hinted at future projects, suggesting Nate's story isn't over yet, and teased, 'Nate's gone but I filmed on two projects in 2025 so I'll be back on your screens this year and also maybe on your big screen in 2027'.
Carter expressed his desire to stay with Emmerdale indefinitely, stating, 'To do the story and the character justice, it's important villains get their comeuppance – that's what people like to see'. He revealed his personal longing for Nate's continued presence, saying, 'For me, personally, I wanted to stay at Emmerdale forever. I loved it there. So selfishly, I would say I wish he hadn't been killed off'.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8 pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. Fans can stay tuned for more spoilers and updates on the show's dedicated homepage. For exclusive interviews and insights, the Soap Scoop podcast offers a weekly dose of soap gossip, theories, and reactions to the latest twists.
