Could Ibiza dethrone Benidorm as the ultimate destination for British stag and hen parties? It’s a bold claim, but one travel expert is betting big on this shift. Frank 'The Stag Man,' a seasoned travel agent specializing in party vacations, has long championed Benidorm as the go-to spot for Brits seeking sun, fun, and celebration. But now, he’s turning his attention to Ibiza, believing it’s poised to reclaim its former glory—and then some.
And this is the part most people miss: While Benidorm has dominated the scene for years, Frank argues that Ibiza’s vibrant nightlife, affordability, and evolving appeal make it a strong contender. The 55-year-old Londoner, who runs a travel agency dedicated to organizing these parties, admits that Benidorm has been his clients’ favorite for years. But he insists the tide is turning. “Times change, and so does the world,” he says. “Ibiza has been overlooked, but I’m here to bring it back as the number one destination for stag and hen dos—and give Benidorm a run for its money.”
But here’s where it gets controversial: Frank isn’t just predicting a shift—he’s actively working to make it happen. “It’s my job to keep both destinations alive,” he explains. “I’ll give Ibiza another year, and then I’ll make my move. Watch this space—the King is coming.” But is Ibiza truly ready to reclaim its crown? While Benidorm attracted over 832,000 British tourists in 2023, Ibiza welcomed more than three million visitors in 2022, thanks in part to its booming nightlife. Yet, Benidorm’s rise as a tourist hotspot in the 1950s, following the decline of its fishing industry, has been marred by concerns over crime, including robberies and muggings, which have deterred repeat visitors.
Frank points out that Ibiza offers similar affordability to Benidorm but with a fresher appeal. “The resorts in Benidorm have stopped focusing on what people want and are only chasing profits,” he says. “Money matters, but people will pay for quality. And let’s face it—the crime issue in Benidorm isn’t helping its reputation.”
Here’s the kicker: While Frank plans to capitalize on Ibiza’s resurgence, he’s not abandoning Benidorm. He’ll continue to operate his bars, travel agencies, and restaurants in the Alicante province, catering primarily to British holidaymakers. But his focus is clear: Ibiza is the future.
Historically known for its electronic dance music scene, Ibiza has recently pivoted to attract families, broadening its appeal. As the third-largest Balearic Island by area and the second-largest by population, it’s a destination with untapped potential. But will it truly overtake Benidorm? That’s the million-dollar question.
What do you think? Is Ibiza ready to steal Benidorm’s crown, or is Frank’s prediction a long shot? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!
