MTPConnect Launches New Funding Initiative to Boost Medical Device Innovation in Heart Disease and Diabetes
MTPConnect has announced a new funding round for medical device startups, offering a unique opportunity to secure non-dilutive funding for innovative solutions in cardiovascular disease and diabetes management. This initiative, supported by the Medical Research Future Fund, aims to address a critical challenge faced by many emerging life science companies: access to funding.
The Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program provides eligible Australian small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with up to $1 million in non-dilutive investment, requiring a cash co-contribution. This funding is crucial for accelerating medical devices that can prevent, diagnose, treat, and manage cardiovascular disease and diabetes complications. The application deadline is 30 March 2026 at 4:00 pm AEDT.
Stuart Dignam, CEO of MTPConnect, emphasizes the importance of this funding round, stating, "Access to funding remains the biggest challenge for startups and innovators, especially in the medical device sector. MTPConnect is committed to addressing this issue with this new funding initiative."
The TTRA initiative has already proven its value, investing in 34 projects and attracting the attention of emerging life science companies. By collaborating with in-house specialists and industry partners, these companies gain access to top-tier local and international expertise, enabling them to develop commercial proof-of-concept.
Dignam encourages medtech innovators in the cardiovascular disease and diabetes fields to take advantage of this opportunity. "We encourage medtech innovators working in cardiovascular disease and diabetes to take advantage of this new opportunity to secure non-dilutive funding and proven acceleration support."
