He's known for his strong penalty-killing skills and ability to play significant minutes. Wiebe, a 22-year-old defenseman, was drafted by Vegas in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft and has shown promise playing at the University of North Dakota.
Flames general manager Craig Conroy emphasized the importance of a first-round pick in the deal, stating that it was a non-negotiable part of the trade talks with other teams. Whitecloud, on the other hand, has 78 points (including 23 goals and 55 assists) in 368 regular-season games and 17 points in 78 playoff games, including a Stanley Cup win in 2023.
