In a heartfelt tribute, a circle of close friends and collaborators of Rob Reiner—including notable figures like Billy Crystal, Larry David, Martin Short, and Albert Brooks—issued a poignant statement on Tuesday to honor the legacy of the influential filmmaker and his beloved wife, Michele Singer.
The statement, shared with The Associated Press, expressed admiration for Reiner’s remarkable journey, stating, "Drawing inspiration from his father, Carl, and his mentor, Norman Lear, Rob Reiner was more than just a talented comic actor; he evolved into a brilliant storyteller." It highlighted the unique versatility of Reiner, noting that there is no other director who possesses such an extensive range. "From comedy to drama, from mockumentaries to documentaries, he consistently delivered exceptional work that resonated with audiences," the statement emphasized.
Continuing their praise, the group elaborated, "His comedic sensibility was unparalleled, and he had an incredible knack for perfecting the rhythm and music of dialogue while adding depth to dramatic narratives with effortless elegance."
In addition to Crystal, David, Short, and Brooks, the tribute included signatures from well-known personalities such as Barry Levinson, writer Alan Zweibel, U.S. Ambassador to Spain James Costos, and composer Marc Shaiman.

Rob Reiner, renowned for his role in the 1971 groundbreaking sitcom "All in the Family," went on to direct iconic films such as "This Is Spinal Tap," "When Harry Met Sally…," "A Few Good Men," and "Stand by Me." Tragically, both he and Michele Singer were found deceased at their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon. Reiner was 78 years old, and Singer was 70.
